OceanLabs Seychelles is a regional leader in developing innovative technology solutions, particularly for the challenging environments of marine and environmental research. We understand the critical role of precise in-situ environmental data in advancing our understanding of the world's oceans by complementing remote sensing satellite data.
In this spirit, we are proud to announce the recently completed the installation of a fully automated seawater sampling system on the Odisea, a 39m scientific support vessel, which is currently on a six-year expedition around the globe. The expedition includes research for the IUCN’s Great Blue Wall initiative. The entire system was locally designed, constructed, and installed in a two-week window, in close cooperation with our client. The Odisea's groundbreaking journey will greatly benefit from this state-of-the-art system, designed to provide continuous and reliable data acquisition.

Our automated water sampling system is engineered to deliver precision and accuracy in data collection. It collects the following seawater parameters: temperature, dissolved oxygen, acidity, and salinity. Automation is a key component in this system's functionality, enabling continuous and reliable sampling without the need for human oversight, which is crucial for long-term marine expeditions like Odisea's. By reducing manual labor, we minimize the workload on the Odisea’s crew, decrease errors, and increase data frequency, leading to a richer understanding of ocean dynamics.

The deployment of our automated water sampling system directly supports the broader goals of the Odisea's global expedition. The data collected will enhance our knowledge of ocean health and environmental change. Furthermore, our system is built to withstand the rigorous conditions of a global expedition, ensuring continuous operation and data reliability.

OceanLabs Seychelles is proud of its technical expertise and ability to deliver tailored solutions within tight deadlines. This project exemplifies our collaborative approach, with close cooperation between our engineers and the Odisea team. Together, we successfully overcame the specific challenges of installing a complex system on a moving vessel, while ensuring its optimal performance and integration.
